Colombo Filter Start, also known as Bactuur Filterstart, is a live bacteria solution designed to kick-start new pond filters and re-establish biological activity in cleaned or rested filters. Each millilitre contains over 800 million living nitrifying bacteria, which rapidly colonize filter media to optimize ammonia and nitrite conversion. This ensures a healthy and balanced environment for fish and aquatic plants.
Nitrifying bacteria are essential for efficient pond filter performance, creating optimal conditions for fish health and plant growth. Colombo Filter Start helps maintain water quality by establishing a stable bacterial population that reduces stress on fish and enhances overall pond ecology. It is ideal for new filter setups, post-winter filter startups, or when ammonia and nitrite levels rise unexpectedly.
Dosage for startup or elevated ammonia/nitrite levels is 40ml per 1000 litres of water each day for five consecutive days. If water temperature is below 10°C, the dosage should be doubled. For maintenance, apply 20ml per 1000 litres weekly to keep filters healthy and effective. Colombo Filter Start is available in 1L and 2.5L bottles, providing ample supply for small and large ponds alike. Regular use ensures a thriving biological filter, clear water, and a healthy, stress-free pond ecosystem.

What should I do if I receive a damaged or incorrect product?
If you receive a damaged or incorrect product, please contact us at orders@queni-koi.co.uk as soon as possible. We will replace the product free of charge and cover the return shipping costs for the incorrect or damaged item.
Can I return koi or specially made products?
Unfortunately, once koi have left our premises, we cannot accept any responsibility for them, and they cannot be returned. Additionally, specially made products, such as custom filtration systems, can only be returned if they are faulty or damaged.
How do I cancel my order?
